FAQ
WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL MY WRESTLER NEED?
For practices, wrestlers need to wear a t-shirt or athletic type shirt and shorts or athletic pants. Wrestling shoes are a must. Head gear and mouthpieces are not required for practices, however they are required for tournaments. Wrestlers are not required to wear singlets. All wrestlers will be required to have a current USA Wrestling Membership.
WHAT AGE DOES MY WRESTLER NEED TO BE?
Typically Kindergarten age through High School age. If you believe your son/daughter is ready at a younger age, please contact our Head Coach Travis.
IS MY WRESTLER REQUIRED TO COMPETE IN TOURNAMENTS?
No, they are not required to compete. When you feel your wrestler is ready, there is no better learning environment than on the mat in a tournament. The more experience they get on the mat, the better they can become.
IS THERE A SPECIFIC TIME WHEN WE CAN JOIN CLUB OR QUIT BEFORE THE SEASON IS OUT?
We realize that at this age, there may be other commitments that may come up during wrestling season. Wrestlers are not penalized for missing practices. The Folkstyle wrestling season starts in late November and usually ends in early March. Greco and Freestyle wrestling follows and runs until early May. Our off-
season training will work on all disciplines. A wrestler may join for part of the season. There are not any discounts or refunds for those who choose to not participate in the entire wrestling season.
WHAT IF I WANT TO GO TO A DIFFERENT TOURNAMENT THAN WHAT IS ON THE SCHEDULE?
You are welcome to attend any tournament that you and your wrestler want to participate in. However, we can not guarantee that there will be a club coach at that tournament. Please know that the club chooses a variety of tournaments to attend for the year based off of how the tournaments are ran and positive past experiences.
HOW LONG ARE THE TOURNAMENTS?
Club tournaments can start early in the morning and last all day. Some tournaments can end early in the afternoon. Length of the tournament is heavily dependent on how the tournament is ran, whether it is a round-robin tournament or a bracket style tournament where weight classes determine the number of wrestlers and matches.
